Horse Corral Pack Station
For serious hunters, backpackers or extreme naturalists, we can provide spot trip packing service to get you and your gear deep into the back country. If you wish to have everything but the sleeping bag furnished, then our all-expense pack trips will be what you'd want. When you wish for the packer to stay with you to care for the horses and mules, then our extended pack trips will be the way to go. And when you just want to jump up on a sure-footed, competent horse and see the back country in the most peaceful way imaginable, beginning to advanced riders will enjoy our half and full day rides.

River Ridge Ranch
At River Ridge you can ride a gentle, obedient and experienced trail horse on our level to easy-rolling pasture, follow our South River Trail, climb to First and Second Mesas, visit Frog Spring or take a half-day ride way up on Lumreau Mountain. The views from the top are spectacular and the deer and birds just don’t seem to run away when you’re on a horse! Mr. Tim Shew, owner and operator of Balch Park Pack Station, has over twenty years experience as a guide, packer and back country horseman. Tim and his string of 20 experienced horses can provide you and a friend or a group up to ten with the thrill of seeing the beautiful Sierra foothills from “up high”. There’s nothing quite like the feeling and view of the scenery you get when you’re on horseback. Rates begin at $50 per person for a 2-hour ride. We provide everything. Just bring your smile.
